Welcome to Seas Your Dreams, where curiosity meets the current. This podcast is created entirely by the After School Matters interns for Sail Her Dreams. This is a space dedicated to exploring the frontiers of STEM, unpacking the critical challenges of environmentalism, and amplifying the voices driving women’s empowerment.
Frequently, the girls take these massive, global concepts out onto Lake Michigan. Why? Because sailing is the ultimate intersection of science, sustainability, and leadership. Whether they are discussing the physics of wind power, interviewing trailblazing women in tech, or sharing stories of navigating the open waters, this show is for the thinkers, the doers, and the adventurers.

Episode One: Noma Shields

Episode Two: Daisy Villarreal
During week 2 of Sail Her Dreams, the girls interviewed Daisy Villarreal, Assistant Operations Manager at Chicago Harbors. In this episode, the girls discuss Daisy's insights on what it means to lead meaningful environmental efforts and learn more about how the harbors participate in the principles of a circular economy.

Episode Three: Dr. Shelby Brunner and Jessica Grow
During week 3 of Sail Her Dreams, the girls interviewed Dr. Shelby Brunner, Science and Observations Manager at Great Lakes observation system and Jessica (Jessie) Grow, Research Specialist at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
In this episode, the women discussed how they study Lake Michigan using a sonde system, their most memorable research projects, and the advice they have for young scientists eager to join their field.​​

Episode Four: Madeline Crispell
During week 4 of Sail Her Dreams, the girls took a field trip over to the Chicago Maritime Museum where they met its curator, Madeline Crispell.
In this special onsite episode, the girls discuss how Madeline's important insights on conservation science and environmental history, and how she applies her work at the intersection of STEM and the humanities.

Episode Five: Paula Brinkman and Erica Spiess
During the final week of Sail Her Dreams, the girls interviewed Paula Brinkman-Lowe, a Senior Environmental Research Technician and Erica Spiess is an aquatic biologist at the
Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
In this episode, the women discussed their important insights on the hands-on duties involved in monitoring water quality to better manage and protect natural resources as well as their invaluable experience working in their fields.
